When you are using your computer very often, a lot of unwanted activity items tend to accumulate in the system, for example Internet addresses typed in your browser's address bar, Start menu history, recent documents, cookies. It's impossible to remove them completely, especially if you're a beginner. The clutter gathered over time into the system causes nothing but harm. It doesn't only affect your privacy, but it also takes up valuable hard disk space. A program that can help you fix this problem is Pointstone Total Privacy. As the name suggests, the program handles all aspects related to personal privacy and makes you feel more secure.

The installation of the program doesn't take long to complete and the space occupied by its directory is extremely small. Total Privacy can run on every version of Windows and older computers, without facing any problem, because the system requirements are as low as you can get.

Basically, the software was designed to clean the tracks of your Internet browser and system activities. The interface is very friendly and well structured, as it's based on tabs, and provides help text for every option it includes, thus being helpful especially for beginners.

The first tab of the Total Privacy shows the user details of the last use of the software, for example the last profile used, file shredding method, number of wiped files, recovered space and other useful information. The software allows you to create new profiles and specify the cleaning areas for each of them. It supports multiple profiles and it also allows scheduling each one of them to run at different times.

The Wash Setup tab of Total Privacy features options for selecting the area of the system that will be cleaned, for example useless start menu items or browser cache. Every option selected is saved into the default profile of the application. For cleaning the browser cookies, Total Privacy has included a set of the most used Internet browsers, like IE, Netscape, Firefox and Opera.

The settings tab includes complete options for configuring the functionality and the behavior of the application, like starting together with Windows or minimizing to the system tray, for not interfering with your work while the cleaning process occurs.

The shredder is useful at completely removing files and folders from the hard disk, beyond recovery and it's also useful for wiping free space, preventing your personal information from getting into the wrong hands. This feature integrates perfectly with the Windows shell and a context menu option for this function will be available at right clicking on any file or folder, allowing safe removing of them. Other functions of Total Privacy include the possibility to control startup items and Internet Explorer extensions and eventually disabling the unneeded ones.

Pros:
The software is very efficient at deleting all the files and folders that record your actions on the computer. Moreover, combined with the functions for shredding files and wiping free space, it will make the deleted data unrecoverable. The possibility to select which browsers item you don't want to remove ensures preserving the data you constantly need.

Cons:
The big number of options may confuse an inexperienced user, as he may not know what to configure exactly and may get lost in the multitude of features.

With Total Privacy, one of the best secure cleaning software, Pointstone managed to create once again a fast and flexible program.
